Risky Altaresh representing the Department of Physics, Shella Jeniferiani W. and Maria Magdalena representing the Department of Chemistry, Dhita Mutiara Nabella representing the Department of Biology, Yuniar Zweistika and Annisa Daniswara S. representing the Department of Geography.
Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris as the Dean of FMIPA UI officially opened the most prestigious event among students. In his speech, he expressed his pride in his students, especially Yudhistira Oktaviandie, a biology student of FMIPA UI who last year won 1st place in the UI-level Outstanding Student (Mapres) event, and 2nd place in the national Outstanding Student event. He admitted that only last year did FMIPA UI students win the position of champion in the Outstanding Student Event up to the national level.
As Dean, Haris motivates his students to be more active in participating in academic programs and activities, as well as various competitions. Not only at the national level, but must be able to penetrate the international level. To support this, Haris told his staff to continue to encourage and monitor the progress and development of their students' education.
"Students who have academic potential must be prepared, must be monitored, directed to always participate (in academic programs and activities)," said Haris to his staff.
According to Haris, FMIPA UI has several international academic programs in collaboration with universities abroad. However, he assessed that the interest of his students to be involved in these activities is still very low. So only a few of his students participate in these cross-country activities. In fact, Haris continued, this is a good opportunity that should not be missed.
"It must be taken, don't think about what else, be brave and confident. This is for the sake of achieving your career and academic achievements." He added.
Before closing his speech, Haris gave encouragement to the FMIPA UI students to be better in creating and innovating. In addition, he hopes that the FMIPA UI Pilmapres Champion this year can maintain his position in the UI Pilmapres event and become role model yang baik.
