On Tuesday (August 27th), 70 students from the Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI), visited the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) at Jalan Dr. Sutomo 6-8, Jakarta. The visit was part of the 2019 Mathematics Department Student Association (HMDM) FMIPA UI's Sine Excursion program.(Sharing with Alumnus) XIV.
In this, the visiting participants had the opportunity to learn more about survey methodology in a study presented by the Directorate of Statistical Information Systems, Jodi Jhouranda Siregar.
In addition, there is also a general explanation regarding BPS and what BPS is doing to build Indonesia through the data love movement by the Head of Public Relations of BPS, Eko Oesman.
In his explanation, Eko Usman explained that in 2020, BPS will implement a Census program called the 2020 Population Census. The census will be conducted on the entire population of Indonesia in 2020.
He hopes that participants will be able to participate in the program by becoming BPS's main partners, both as community companions in filling out Population Census data and assisting BPS in data processing.
"We hope you can become our main partners, especially since you already have a background (in Mathematics and Statistics)," explained Eko.
Eko's statement was met with a positive response from Rania Azzahra, a 2018 student from the Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, who said she was ready to volunteer to help the local community fill out the 2020 Population Census data.
"As a student with a background in mathematics, I am certainly willing to help make the 2020 Population Census a success, for example by volunteering to gather information, perhaps from my local community," said Rania.
