Dr. rer.nat. Abdul Haris continues his leadership as dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) for the 2018-2022 period. As the sole candidate in his faculty, he was automatically elected without going through the assessment process that other dean candidates underwent.
Abdul Haris, will continue the FMIPA UI Strategic Plan for the 2014-2018 Period which has the mission of "Embodiment of Collective Hope to Make the Faculty of MIPA UI One of the Best Science Faculties in Asia".
In his vision and mission statement, Abdul Haris wants to improve research facilities and infrastructure periodically through investment concepts and... resource sharing with external partners. One example is the construction of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Laboratory in collaboration with Pertamina.
Apart from that, one of the priorities in the 2017-2021 FMIPA UI program and strategy is to prepare supporting infrastructure. e-campus which is integrated with departments, universities and the external environment.
Abdul Haris first served as Dean of FMIPA UI in the 2014-2018 period. At that time, he competed with other top candidates, namely Prof. Dr. Sumi Hudiyono PWS & Dr. Emil Budianto from the Chemistry Department, and Dr. Gatot Fatwanto H. from the Mathematics Department.
Abdul Haris was elected as the dean of FMIPA UI, one of the reasons being his vision, namely to make FMIPA UI a leading science faculty capable of playing a role at the global level.
