The Master of Medical Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) in the University of Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students (UI-CREATES) accepted 11 foreign Postgraduate students from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

This activity will be held in a hybrid format, consisting of both online and offline sessions. The online sessions will run from September 6, 2022, to October 4, 2022. The offline sessions will be held from October 10–14, 2022, at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) Campus, Depok.

The entire series of activities is scheduled to conclude online on November 15, 2022. Upon completion of the program, international students will receive an academic transcript of three credits.

The Head of the Medical Physics Masters Study Program, Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, Ph.D., told the UI FMIPA Public Relations team that the topic offered in UI-CREATES this time was Imaging Technology and Radiotherapy Planning.

"During this program, students will be given lecture materials including medical imaging technologies such as CT Scans, PET scans, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging," said Supriyanto to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.

After that, said Supriyanto, the activity continued with contouring the target cancer volume that would undergo radiotherapy with dose reconstruction based on the Treatment Planning System (TPS) device.

"Students benefit from hands-on experience with TPS devices for 3D conformal techniques, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, and Brachytherapy," he said.

In his remarks, Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UI, stated that in addition to earning credits from this program, international students are also provided with insights into Indonesian language and culture. The cultural program includes playing Javanese gamelan and angklung at the UI Faculty of Cultural Sciences.

"And as a closing activity, students will be invited to tour the National Monument (Monas) and the National Museum, Jakarta," said the Dean on October 10, 2022, in the Sinarmas Hall of the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building, FMIPA UI – PT Pertamina (Persero), UI Campus, Depok.

In general, the University of Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students (UI-CREATES) is a two or three-week short course program where students can obtain an academic transcript of 3 credits (for the two-week program) and 6 credits (for the three-week program) after completing the program.

UI-CREATES consists of three sub-programs, namely Pre-Program, Main Program, and Post-Program.

The first sub-program is the pre-program. In this sub-program, students are required to submit an essay on their perceptions of Indonesia and the University of Indonesia.

Next, students will go through the main program, where in this core program students must study at UI for 2 or 3 weeks depending on the type of short course.

The final subprogram is the post-program. In this subprogram, students are required to submit a paper on their opinions and the benefits of the UI-CREATES program.

This program received funding support from the Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with the International Office of the University of Indonesia.
