Today, Tuesday (26/2), the series of activities for the 2019 FMIPA UI Outstanding Student Selection event began. Officially, Dr. Ratna Yuniati as the FMIPA UI Education Manager opened the event.
The event, which will be held for the next 3 days, is held at the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building, FMIPA UI – PT. Pertamina, UI Campus, Depok. Attended by the Dean, Vice Dean for Field I, education manager, cooperation manager, head of UPMA, head of the Office of International Affairs and Public Relations, heads of departments, heads of undergraduate study programs and students from various student elements (BEM, BPM, HMD, BSO) in the FMIPA UI environment.
The agenda for the Pilmapres activity at the beginning of this series of events is the presentation of papers by participants who are representatives from each department in front of the jury and students who are... supporter para peserta.
Dr. Retno Lestari, M.Si. as the chair, in her speech said that the theme raised this year is still the same as in previous years, namely Sustainable Development Goals.
Based on this theme, Retno continued, students are expected to be sensitive and able to play an active role in answering problems faced by their environment by providing alternative solutions based on the background of the field of science they are studying.
Regarding the FMIPA UI Pilpmapres group this year, he explained that there are 2 Pilmapres groups, namely the Main Mapres and the Category Mapres, which include 4 achievement categories, namely socio-environmental, arts-culture, entrepreneurship, and sports.
The Main Mapres participants were from all departments, 2 students each from the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and 1 student from the Geoscience study program, so that there were 11 Main Mapres candidates.
Meanwhile, the Mapres Category was participated by 23 students from each Department. Each Department sent 4 candidates for each category, only the Geoscience Study Program sent 3 candidates.
"This year (Geoscience Study Program) has not sent any candidates for Arts and Culture students. The Geoscience Study Program is one of the young study programs at FMIPA UI. Hopefully in the coming years it can send its representatives in full". Retno concluded.
The candidates, said Retno, had previously gone through a selection process at the department level. In the selection process, the FMIPA UI student unit collaborated with BEM FMIPA UI and related parties in the department to determine candidates for each department who met the criteria.
The judging process will last for several days, until the final announcement will be made on Friday, March 1, 2019.
