May 10, 2021

FMIPA UI student, Salsa (Geography 2020), successfully brought home a silver medal in the LKTI Edutainer Nusantara Fair 2021 competition with the theme “Virtual Generation: Ready to New Normal & Millennials to 4.0 Industrial Revolution”. The medal winners were announced at an event awarding ceremony on April 24, 2021.

Salsa and her two teammates from UGM, wrote a scientific paper entitled "Utilization of Social Media as a Marketing Tool for Bran Siomay and Tofu Dregs as Functional Foods to Prevent Obesity in an Effort to Realize SDGs in Indonesia". After going through a fairly long competition process, starting from collecting abstracts, full paper, and a presentation and question and answer session with the jury, Salsa and her team managed to win a silver medal.

The background of the idea of writing it started from the problem of two waste materials, namely bran and tofu dregs which actually still contain quite high nutrition. Salsa and her team innovated the two materials into low-fat and high-protein foods, so that they can be used as healthy diet foods.

They hope that their innovation can be consumed by the community or even become a social media-based business opportunity, this is because the material is relatively cheap and they have also tested that the prospects are quite high. Not only that, in this study, Salsa and her team also conducted mapping around the East Java region to find out areas that have opportunities for developing their innovative food products.

Salsa and her two friends who were also high school friends motivated them to further develop the research they had previously conducted in high school.

"After winning various scientific paper competitions in high school, we once promised to continue our undergraduate education in the same place and continue this research to be developed further with further innovations. Although in the end, we are not in the same university, but we are sure that there will be other opportunities to continue this research together, including with the competition held by ENFI," said Salsa.

In completing her writing, Salsa and her two friends also often face challenges. One of them is making time amidst the density of lectures with schedules that are different from each other.

At the end of the interview session, Salsa also closed with a short message for other FMIPA friends so that there is no such thing as enough to learn and innovate because wherever we are placed there will definitely be meetings and valuable lessons to be learned. Go through college happily, be smart in reading opportunities to never stop trying.

LKTIN ENF Indonesia is a series of activities of the Edutainer Nusantara Fair 2021 which aims to increase the role of students and pupils to be able to produce creative ideas that can be realized as a way to develop knowledge and creativity in utilizing innovation and creativity to face the industrial revolution 4.0.
