Anita Dwi Puspita, Geography Student 2019, won 3rd place in the National Commemoration Day (HPN) competition held by BEM FMIPA Universitas Islam Bandung. After competing with up to 200 participants, Anita managed to bring honor to FMIPA UI after going through a series of judging.
The essay entitled "Is Indonesian Education Independent During the Pandemic?" was motivated by Anita's anxiety about distance learning activities that cannot be enjoyed by all groups. In her writing, Anita reviews the problems that have occurred in Indonesian education during the pandemic, starting from the inability to have gadgets, difficult internet access, and environmental conditions that do not support distance learning.
In writing her essays, Anita also often faces challenges, especially related to time management in the midst of her busy lecture schedule.
"From myself, at that time I also felt less confident because this was my first competition. During the presentation session, I also No prepare anything because No there was a thought that I could make it to the top 5. Finally, with that short time, I had to dare to appear confidently in front of the judges and other participants," said Anita.
At the end of the interview session with the FMIPA UI Public Relations Team, Anita said that it is very important for students to take part in competitions, especially in the midst of the current pandemic.
"By participating in competitions, we can measure our abilities. Sometimes we think that our abilities are only limited to a certain level, when in fact our abilities are more than that as long as we are willing to try," Anita said convincingly.
"Motivation is actually different and can come from anywhere. For example, there is an accomplished person that we admire, well from there we can also try to be like him in our own way. In my opinion, we should also not see the competition only as a matter of winning and losing. The process is also important to see as an achievement in ourselves. Losing is something that No anything, as long as we have tried our best,” continued Anita.
