Favorite Champion in Inarisk Hackathon 2021

January 27, 2022

InaRISK Hackathon Fest (IHF) 2021 is an activity that aims to create ideas and applications from application developer actors in Indonesia that can be utilized or developed into a solution that can be used as a form of InaRISK BNPB development in 2021. This event was held through a collaboration between BNPB, UNDP with the assistance of the Japanese Government and U-Inspire Indonesia and supported by BRI, BNI, and Telkomsigma.

A shared interest in digital systems and disaster risk mitigation brought together Andini, Sachi, and Tia, Geography students from the University of Indonesia. This shared academic interest and friendship has turned into a potential solution to expand the inaRISK mobile application, developed by the National Disaster Management Agency, BNPB, with support from UNDP.

Armed with information from a course in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, the Alluvione team – whose name is inspired by the Italian word for flood – began developing a system equipped with interactive spatial visualizations. The system aims to help communities vulnerable to future flooding.

Naming their project Nusantara Analysis Flood, or Nusaflood, the team noted they were inspired to develop the solution after seeing the devastation following the April 2021 floods in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province. “As we know, there was a significant loss, both in terms of human life and economy,” adding: “So we analyzed the situation in Kupang Regency in NTT using satellite imagery data.”

Three UI Geography students who are members of a team named Aluvione managed to get the most favorite champion in this activity. Congratulations to you.
