The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia held the 2024 Main and Category Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) entitled "Independence, Inspiring Indonesian Student Talent", on Thursday morning (7/3/2024), at the Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy Hall, UI Campus, Depok.
This activity was attended by a total of 24 students who were representatives from each department and study program. Participants consisted of 4 Mathematics Department Students, 3 Chemistry Department Students, 1 Physics Department Student, 7 Biology Department Students, 5 Geography Department Students, 3 Geophysics Study Program Students, and 1 Geology Department Student.
The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. in his speech said that FMIPA UI continues to support students to improve their achievements. One of them is through the Pilmapres activity which is a prestigious event among students to show off their achievements.
“FMIPA UI continues to strive to improve the achievements of its students, one of which is through the Pilmapres competition which is held every year. This Pilmapres should be a motivation for you to show the best achievements,” said Prof. Dede.
He also reminded his students to be able to adapt to change, and to continue to be enthusiastic about learning throughout life. Moreover, continued the Dean, currently the presence of technological developments is happening so quickly. This can be used by students as a golden opportunity to improve their hard skills and soft skills. hard skill and soft skill.
“This college period is a golden time to hone academic and non-academic abilities. Moreover, we are currently in an era of rapid technological development, so take advantage of the opportunities available to learn and achieve,” said Prof. Dede.
“We show that FMIPA UI is the best. I expect you to be a representation for Indonesian students who have attitudes and behaviors that are worthy of being emulated. Good luck and compete,” he added.
That way, in the future, students are expected to be able to practice the knowledge they gain to help solve problems that develop in society.
Chief Executive Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, S.Si., M.Si said, "There are 12 participants for the Main Mapres, and there are also 12 participants for the Category Mapres. The categories for this year's pilmapres are still the same as the previous year, namely entrepreneurship, sports, arts and culture, and social and environmental," said Dr. Dewi.
the Student Affairs Manager of FMIPA UI also explained that there was something different about the implementation of this year's pilmapres. The changes are in the time and place of the Mapres Category selection. Where the Category Mapres this year was held simultaneously with the Main Mapres selection, but the location was different. The Category Mapres was held at the FMIPA UI Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building - PT Pertamina (Persero).
she also said that the committee would announce the Main Mapres and Category winners in the afternoon after the entire series of activities were completed.
"So today, the English judging will be held with a presentation of creative ideas from all the main Mapres participants in this Hall. At the same time, the announcement of the Main Mapres and Category winners will be this afternoon after the entire series of events are completed," she said.
Regarding the judging stage, he explained that the judging stages of the 2024 FMIPA UI Outstanding Student Selection consist of Excellent CVs, Creative Ideas, and English. For the Mapres category, it consists of CVs, Creative Ideas, and Creative Ideas presentations using Indonesian.
The judging of the Main Mapres CV Unggulan, and Creative Ideas was carried out on the previous day, namely Monday-Thursday, March 4-6, 2024.
Also present at this activity were the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Budiawan, Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration; Dr. Tito Latif Indra, Education Manager; Rika Tri Yunarti, S.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D, Heads of Departments, Heads of Study Programs within FMIPA UI.
Pilmapres is organized by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI), Secretariat General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as an effort to encourage students to not only excel in academics, but also to become creative, innovative, highly competitive, and characterful individuals.
The assessment of outstanding students' excellence will be evaluated from the aspects of knowledge and skills as well as life skills, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and other superior characters.
In addition, the selection procedure is carried out in stages, based on the principle of equality between PTN and PTS, and based on regional representation which is continued with the provision of life skills in the final stage.
