Tuesday morning (21/3/2023), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held the 2023 Main Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) at the Prof. Dr. G.A Siwabessy Hall, UI Campus, Depok.
This activity was attended by a total of 6 participants who were representatives from each department and study program, namely the mathematics department, physics department, chemistry department, biology department, geography department and geoscience study program.
All participants had previously gone through a selection at the department level which was held on February 21-26.
Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. officially opened the event. In his remarks, he expressed his support and appreciation to the participants and expressed his gratitude to the Pilmapres committee and the leadership of FMIPA UI who were involved in making this activity a success.
He emphasized that the leadership at FMIPA UI is committed to always supporting academic and non-academic activities that can encourage student achievement and competitiveness, one of which is through the Pilmapres activity.
"My commitment, and the leadership of FMIPA UI, is to always support activities that can develop students' potential, to be able to bring the good name of FMIPA UI at the national and international levels such as the Pilmapres activities that we are holding or the Olympiad," said Dean Dede.
"We also always communicate and work together with the student affairs directorate regarding matters that can help improve the reputation of FMIPA UI, because FMIPA UI is... step by step "It has been recognized nationally and internationally," he said.
He hopes that the main mapres of FMIPA UI can later lead FMIPA UI to the national stage and achieve success in the final match. He advised the finalists to continue to uphold sportsmanship and continue to innovate to provide a positive impact for FMIPA UI and the community.
"Good luck to the finalists of the FMIPA UI pilmpares, for those who have not had the opportunity to win the title, don't be discouraged, continue to uphold sportsmanship, and seize other prestigious opportunities to compete, and the most important thing is to continue to innovate to provide benefits to the faculty, the community," he added.
Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, S.Si., M.Si. The Student Affairs Manager of FMIPA UI, who is also the head of the implementation of this activity, said that on Saturday (18/3/2023) the FMIPA UI student unit had held a category pilmapres in the Hall of the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building of FMIPA UI - PT Pertamina Persero, UI Campus, Depok, involving a total of 10 participants consisting of 1 participant from the mathematics department, 2 participants from the physics department, 1 participant from the chemistry department, 3 participants from the biology department, 1 participant from the geography department, and 2 participants from the geoscience study program.
The categories competed were Arts and Culture, Social Environment, Sports, and Entrepreneurship.
"This category Mapres was held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 successfully and smoothly, and has also entered the judging stage, we really appreciate the finalists who have provided their creative ideas," said Dr. Dewi.
However, he said, the announcement of the category Mapres winners will be made on the same day as the announcement of the main Mapres winners after the series of final stages of the main Pilmapres are completed.
"Both the announcement of the category and main Mapres winners will be made this afternoon," he said.
Furthermore, he explained the implementation of the series of activities for this year's Pilmapres. According to him, there was a slight difference in terms of the implementation time which was generally timeline promoted by the National Achievement Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture.
"For that, we also need to adjust to the dynamics that occur," he said.
According to him, there are also differences in the selection process where the selection of the category of Mapres is carried out at the faculty level, while the main Mapres selection process is carried out starting from the department and study program levels.
Before closing his remarks, Dr. Dewi expressed her hope that in the future there will be outstanding student agents who, through their respective interests and talents, can inspire fellow students in the university environment as well as provide a positive impact on society through their creative ideas and concepts.
The stages of the 2023 FMIPA UI Outstanding Student Selection consist of presentations and discussions in English, Creative Ideas in the form of Scientific Papers (KTI) for the Main Mapres finalists, and an assessment of Excellent CVs.
Pilmapres is organized by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI), Secretariat General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as an effort to encourage students to not only excel in academics, but also to become creative, innovative, highly competitive, and characterful individuals.
Reporting from pusatprestasinasional.kemdikbud.go.id This year, Pilmapres for Undergraduate Program participants has changed, namely synergizing the assessment of various abilities needed in society. The assessment of outstanding students' excellence will be evaluated from the aspects of knowledge and skills as well as life skills, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and other superior characters.
In addition, the selection procedure will be carried out in stages, based on the principle of equality between PTN and PTS, and based on regional representation which will be continued with life skills training at the final stage.
