On Tuesday (28/11), at the Balairung of the University of Indonesia, Depok, the Department of Geography, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UI), in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Geography Association (SEAGA), held the first SEAGA conference at UI.
SEAGA merupakan wadah bagi geograf-geograf maupun orang yang tertarik dengan spatial perspective to exchange experiences related to research as well as knowledge about teaching methods.
This association was first established in 1990 in Brunei Darussalam.
Carrying the theme Geography for Global Understanding “Sustainable Changes in Environment, Society and People”, SEAGA 2017 menggelar beberapa rangkaian acara, diantaranya, Concurrent Panel, Exhibition, Dialdice Microsystem Special Demo Tools for Real Time GIS on Internet of Things Ecosystem, Batik Processing Demo by Batik and Craft, dan TOPCON Special Demo Tools for Terrestrial Surveying.
Dra. Widyawati, MSP, as the Project Officer of SEAGA 2017, hopes that the SEAGA conference at the University of Indonesia can increase motivation, especially among the academic community of the UI Geography Department, to produce reviews or engage in inter-literature discussions.
Echoing Widyawati’s views, Dr. Ir. Nurwadjedi, M.Sc., Deputy for Thematic Geospatial Information, who was also present as a keynote speaker, expressed his hope that the University of Indonesia can produce human resources who are experts in the geospatial field.
