The Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QS WUR) by Subject 2021 through its official website www.topuniversities.com/subject-rankings/2021, recently announced that a number of fields of study at the University of Indonesia (UI) from 5 broad subject areas have successfully entered the international rankings.
Among those fields are Geography, and Physics of the University of Indonesia. Both fields of study under the auspices of FMIPA UI are listed in the ranking of Broad Subject (Science Group) Natural Sciences. The field of study of Geography is included in the subject of Geography with a ranking of 150-200, while the field of study of Physics is included in the subject of Physics and Astronomy at a ranking of 551-600.
Previously, in 2020, QS WUR had placed the UI Geography study field at the same rank. This proves that UI Geography is able to maintain its reputation and achievements well. And in 2021, the FMIPA UI ranking on QS WUR increased by one subject with the entry of the UI Physics study field.
Dr. Rokhmatuloh, Dean of FMIPA UI, assessed that this is a picture that FMIPA UI has succeeded in implementing four important points which are its main focus in improving academic reputation in the international arena, namely academic reputation, publications - citations, collaboration, and innovation.
"The ranking of these two fields of study illustrates that the 4 (four) important points that are the main focus of FMIPA UI in an effort to improve academic reputation at the international level have been successfully implemented, namely academic reputation, publications - citations, collaboration and innovation," he said to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.
Furthermore, he expressed his appreciation to the related parties, especially the academic community of FMIPA UI. According to him, the achievement of these two fields of study is a collective effort and synergy of the related parties, especially the academic community of FMIPA UI.
"The leadership of FMIPA UI is certainly grateful and proud of the 2021 QS WUR ranking, if last year only one subject was included (QS WUR ranking), this year it has increased by 1 more with the inclusion of Physics. This is a joint achievement, the result of hard work together with many parties, especially the academic community," he said to the FMIPA UI public relations team.
Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng. Dean of FMIPA UI hopes that this achievement will be an encouragement for other fields of study at FMIPA UI to jointly improve their ranking at the international level, in line with efforts to realize the vision of FMIPA UI to become a leading science faculty that is able to play a role nationally and internationally.
