Lecturers and Geography Students of FMIPA UI Research the Potential for Developing Gunungkidul Karst Ecotourism

Lecturers and Students of the Department of Geography who are members of the University of Indonesia Geography Study Group (KSG UI) held a Core Research (PENITI) 2019 activity with the theme "Dynamics of Karst Landscapes and Their Utilization for Local Communities" in Gunung Kidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The activity, chaired by Angga Kurniawansyah, was supported by Community Social Responsibility (CSR) Bank BCA.

Under the guidance of Dr. Triarko Nurlambang and equipped with research guidance from Dra. Astrid Damayanti, M.Si, Angga and his team of 35 people, carried out this activity for five days, namely August 16-21, 2019.

In this PENITI activity, the KSG UI team was divided into five groups with different topic focuses ranging from cave ecotourism to beaches.

Angga explained the purpose of holding PENITI is to find out the potential for developing karst ecotourism in Gunungkidul while designing so that tourism activities can have sustainable programs. This can be seen from one of the research topics entitled "Management Strategy & Economic Value of Goa Pindul Tourism Environmental Services"

Not only limited to research. Angga continued, the KSG UI Team also held community service activities in the form of socializing the results of field research findings to one of the tourism bureaus in Goa Pindul, namely CV Wirawisata

In addition, the KSG UI team also provided the results of the map that had been produced in the research. It is hoped that the implementation of the PENITI 2019 program can provide a great contribution to the development of science and local communities in accordance with the Tridharma of Higher Education, namely education, research, and community service.
