Participation in Activities Conference of The Arabian Journal of Geosciences (CAJG) in Tunisia

The CAJG international conference was held in Hammamet City, Tunisia. Hammamet City is a small city in Nabeul Province. Located on the northeast coast of Tunisia, 70 km from Carthage International Airport. During the event, the air temperature was around 11-14°C with occasional drizzle. The time difference with Indonesia is 6 (six) hours slower or UTC +1.

The event was attended by more than 450 participants from more than 70 countries and 5 continents. Most of the conference participants were authors, reviewers, or editors at the Arabian Journal of Geosciences. In addition, most of the participants were senior researchers who were still active in campuses, research institutions, or private companies.

The conference has 10 themes related to geoscience which will be published in Conference Proceeding with Springer publisher and also the Arabian Journal of Geosciences (AJGS) journal. Kuswantoro, S.Si., M.Sc., as a lecturer in Geography, FMIPA UI also participated with an oral presentation. The title of his research  “Two Dimensional of Flood Inundation Modelling in Urban Area Using WMS, HEC-RAS, and GIS (Case Study in Jeddah City, Saudi Arabia)”. The topic falls into the theme Advances in Remote Sensing and Geo-Informatics Applications.

The large number of participants from various countries and universities in the world provides opportunities for cooperation between nations, especially in the fields of research and education. Some of them, such as Prof. Biswajeet Pradhan from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), who is an expert in modeling using Artificial Intelligence such as GIS and Remote Sensing for various applications such as floods, tsunamis, landslides, earthquakes, etc. He did not hesitate to offer himself to visit UI for public lectures and research collaborations. In addition, several professors from Algeria, Turkey, and the United States also gave positive responses if they wanted to establish research and education cooperation with UI. The hope is that UI will have a wider network with campuses in the world.
