Help Cisolok Residents Monitor Natural Disasters, Geography Students of FMIPA UI Hold Counseling and Mitigation

In this activity, the team led by Ananda Fitriani collaborated with village administrators and local youth organizations to provide socialization related to disaster mitigation to the people of Cisolok Village. There were three places where the activity was held, namely, SDN 01 Cisolok, SMP 1 Cisolok and at the Village Hall.

The socialization held at SDN 01 Cisolok involved creating a simulation of Mount Melutus using toy candles. Apart from that, the team also provided explanations about disasters through various games, one of which was a game about how to save yourself in the event of an earthquake or tsunami. According to Nanda, this game-based mitigation concept can be more effective and easier for residents to understand.

Meanwhile, at SMP 1 Cisolok, the team introduced a map of disaster-prone locations and held a creative poster competition on what to do before and after a disaster.

Meanwhile, at the Village Hall, the Cisolok Village community was trained and given an explanation about the Geographic Information System Technology Application (ATSIG) which can be used to monitor natural disasters. To the community, the team provided a multi-hazard map and training involving village administrators and local youth organizations regarding the use of the Avenza application. The purpose of this counseling is to help the community in identifying and planning disaster-prone villages in Cisolok Village.

"The socialization counseling is expected to be useful and the community will begin to realize the importance of early disaster mitigation, especially in Cisolok Village," said Nanda, Chief Executive of G-Days.
