FMIPA UI Holds 2017 Medical Physics & Biophysics Scientific Meeting

August 14, 2017

Saturday, (12/08/2017) at the Yudhistira Room, Hotel Santika Depok, FMIPA UI held a Scientific Congress in the framework of the 2017 Medical Physics & Biophysics Scientific Meeting (PIT-FMB). The event, which was officially opened by Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris as Dean of FMIPA UI, was attended by, Prof. Ridla Bakri, M.Phil. (Vice Dean for Field I of FMIPA UI), Prof. Dr. Wahyu S. Budi (Chairman of the Alliance of Indonesian Medical Physics Education Institutes (AIPFMI)), Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, Ph.D. (Chairman of the Indonesian Medical Physicists Association (AFMI)), Dr. Agus Salam (Department of Physics), and more than 170 participants from various institutions.

Carrying the theme "Strengthening the role of physics in meeting the demands of national health service quality", PIT-FMB 2017 discussed issues in the fields of Radiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Biophysics.

The event received an excellent response from the community, with 172 participants from various institutions attending the congress, with 51 papers presented. The submitted papers will be published in two journals. venue different, namely books proceedingJournal of Medical Physics and Biophysics Indonesian language version, according to the recommendations of the scientific committee.

In his remarks, Lukmanda Evan Lubis, M.Si., stated that this was the first scientific event in the field of Medical Physics and Biophysics to be held on a national scale, following previous similar international events held in Indonesia. Evan added that the event's success was due to the full support of AFMI, AIPFMI, and

Prof. Dr. Wahyu S. Budi said that this opportunity is certainly very important for Medical Physics and Biophysics practitioners in Hospitals and universities to be able to continue to synergize with the scientific community and get update ilmu.

Echoing Prof. Dr. Wahyu S. Budi, Supriyanto added that this activity is an effort to exchange ideas between medical physics and biophysics practitioners from an academic and clinical perspective. He hopes that medical physicists can play a greater role in medical physics services in clinical services. "With this meeting, we hope that this activity can be held regularly and that universities that are members of the Alliance of Indonesian Medical Physics Education Institutions can always collaborate in order to improve the quality and quality of medical physicists, thereby improving medical physics services in hospitals and other health facilities," said Supriyanto.

As a member of the Federation of Southeast Asian Medical Physicists, Indonesia will host the 2019 Southeast Asian Medical Physics Congress in Bali. It is hoped that this scientific meeting can be elevated to an international conference in conjunction with the Southeast Asian Medical Physicists Scientific Meeting that same year.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UI)'s support for the development of Medical Physics and Biophysics has been evident since 1998, when the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UI) established a Medical Physics and Biophysics specialization in the Undergraduate Program, and in the establishment of a Medical Physics and Biophysics specialty program in 2002, and continues to do so. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMI) is also noted in history as the place where the AIPFMI (Indonesian Medical Physics Association) was formed on November 2, 2012, in the Department of Physics. In April 2016, an AIPFMI meeting discussing strategic issues was also held at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMI UI).

The Dean of FMIPA UI expressed his support for the development of Medical Physics and Biophysics from both administrative and scientific perspectives, so that it can contribute to the welfare of the nation.
