UI Open Days 2017: More than 2,500 People Visit FMIPA UI Booth

February 20, 2017

FMIPA UI once again participated in the event, which was held for the fifth time by the UI Public Relations and Information Office. The event, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, 18–19 February 2017, at Balairung, UI Campus Depok, was attended by more than 26,000 visitors. They came from all over Indonesia to seek information about the departments and faculties at UI from the most reliable sources. The majority of attendees were high school students.

More than 2,500 visitors came to the FMIPA UI booth. They enthusiastically asked questions to the booth guides, who were students from all departments and study programs at FMIPA UI. Most inquiries were about study programs, UI’s admission pathways, and career opportunities after completing education at FMIPA UI. The FMIPA UI booth guides took this opportunity to explain to visitors the career prospects for FMIPA UI graduates, emphasizing that alumni have very broad career opportunities in the workforce, even to become a enterpreneur. Until now, the public has generally assumed that most FMIPA UI graduates pursue careers as teachers. In fact, with mastery of basic science, FMIPA UI graduates can pursue careers in a wide range of scientific fields and remain competitive in the era of globalization.

In addition to the crowded FMIPA UI booth, the FMIPA UI presentation session in the Anex Room was also filled with visitors. As the FMIPA UI Education Manager, Dr. Dian Lestari attended to provide an overview of academic programs at FMIPA UI.

This activity is expected to increase public interest in pursuing education at FMIPA UI, as well as broaden public understanding that technological advancements in the world are inseparable from the contributions of scientists.
