Depok – On Tuesday (July 4, 2017), at Building B 101, FMIPA University of Indonesia, a Joint Agreement (NKB) was signed between the University of Indonesia and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) regarding the utilization of facilities and infrastructure, education, research, and community service. Additionally, FMIPA UI signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics College for the implementation of educational, research, and community service activities as part of this collaboration.
The purpose of signing this Joint Agreement (NKB) is to enhance synergy in improving the quality of human resources and the utilization and development of science and technology related to Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (MKG) information, as well as to support national development and improve the quality of the implementation of each party’s duties and functions according to their respective authorities.
The NKB was signed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met., as Rector of the University of Indonesia, and Dr. Andi Eka Sakya, M.Eng., as Head of BMKG. Meanwhile, the Cooperation Agreement was signed by Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, Dean of FMIPA UI, and Dr. Suko Prayitno Adi, M.Si., Chairman of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics College (STMKG).
The scope of the Joint Agreement includes the implementation of activities to enhance human resource competencies (education) related to MKG data and information; research and development of science and technology in the MKG field; provision, utilization, and dissemination of MKG data and information; utilization of facilities and infrastructure; development of infrastructure related to MKG information; and other activities deemed necessary and approved by both parties.
Meanwhile, the scope of the Cooperation Agreement includes the implementation of activities in the field of education, such as improving educational qualifications and providing lecturers or resource persons in the fields of science and technology, including MKG and MKG Instrumentation; research and community service in science and technology, including MKG and MKG Instrumentation; utilization of facilities and infrastructure under the Tri Dharma of Higher Education; periodic scientific meetings such as workshops, seminars, and other scientific gatherings; and the publication of magazines and journals in the fields of science and technology, including MKG and MKG Instrumentation.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anis, M.Met., hopes that this collaboration will lead to significant breakthroughs in the ongoing development of science and technology. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris also stated that the signing of the MoU was carried out to strengthen the ongoing cooperation between BMKG and UI. According to him, the collaborative relationship between FMIPA UI and BMKG has already been running well, as evidenced by several FMIPA UI alumni who have successfully held important positions and contributed to BMKG.

The MoU and Cooperation signing ceremony was attended by the leadership of FMIPA UI, BMKG, and STMKG, teaching staff from FMIPA UI, STMKG lecturers, students and employees of FMIPA UI, as well as cadets of STMKG. The event coincided with the FMIPA UI Halal Bi Halal celebration (1 Shawwal 1438 H).
