Since the laying of the first stone in September last year, the construction process of the new FMIPA UI Canteen, Prayer Room and Pusgiwa has reached the final stage and is expected to be completed in the middle of this month.
This 2-story building located in the physics building area of FMIPA UI was built on land measuring 2,060 m2 or four times larger than the previous canteen, prayer room, and student activity center (Pusgiwa). The ground floor of this building houses the canteen with 30 tenants, while the second floor houses the prayer room and student activity center (Pusgiwa) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia.
During the construction process of the new canteen, prayer room, and student center, the FMIPA UI canteen will be temporarily located on the right side of the construction area.
Regarding the construction costs, Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and Administration at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, stated that the total cost was 6.5 billion Rupiah, of which almost 90% was from the Faculty's own funds and 10% was from contributions from BSM and BNI.
Meanwhile, the style of this building follows the typical characteristics of UI buildings in general, with the facade mostly decorated with red bricks on all sides, so that it looks harmonious with the surrounding buildings.
He also revealed that the design of the new building applies the building concept. ecogreen where in this concept, lighting and ventilation are prioritized, with the aim that the spaces in the building receive sufficient natural lighting and ventilation so as to minimize energy use.
Furthermore, Rokhmatuloh explained regarding the transaction system in this new canteen, all FMIPA UI academics are required to pay non-cash. (cashless) using electronic money (e-money) as a transaction tool. The card used is the BNI Tap Cash e-money card.
This, according to Rokhmatuloh aims to improve the quality of health of food sold in the new FMIPA UI Canteen. In addition, it also minimizes contact between traders and cash when transacting and preparing food, so it is considered to be able to create a healthier life.
