Three FMIPA UI students, Dylan Arlen Tunggatama (Actuarial 2020), Arundhati Naysa Ekhaputri (Mathematics 2020), and Deva Fitrianti Rahayu (Geophysics 2020) won 1st place in the event Business Plan Competition organized by the Geological Engineering Student Association, Faculty of Engineering, Gadjah Mada University. The competition, which was held online this year, carried the theme “Creative and Innovative Youngpreneur Facing the COVID-19 Pandemic”.
After going through a fairly strict selection process, the team called the PUK Team (Persistent, United, Keen) proves that they deserve to be champions among other participants from all over Indonesia.
Dylan, as the team leader, explained that the idea they were carrying in the competition was to build startup which allows covid patients to get temporary housing as a place for self-isolation. In addition, this innovation provides business opportunities in the property sector for owners of empty but usable houses to be rented out as isoman housing for covid patients.
They named the innovation RABU (Rawat Hingga Sembuh). RABU is an application initiated due to the spike in COVID-19 cases some time ago. The way the application innovation works is quite simple.
For property owners who are interested in renting out their empty homes as isoman places, they can register their homes on the application, then the application management team will record and check the eligibility requirements for self-isolation places, sign a rental price contract between the owner and the application manager, coordinate with the nearest health center, and ask for health workers in the residential area to control the activities of COVID patients there, the application is ready to be used by users, and the residence is immediately registered and will appear in the search results.
Dylan further said, regarding the sustainability of the RABU application, he and his team will develop it by adding several other features, including information about doctor's practices complete with details of prices, facilities, distances and ratings. This, said Dylan, is in line with the vision of the application he created.
"To maintain business continuity post-covid, RABU will also provide information on doctor's practices including prices, facilities, distance, and ratings. RABU's vision is to become online marketplace which aims to improve the health and welfare of all Indonesian people, improve health by reducing the rate of COVID-19 transmission, and improve welfare by renting empty housing as a place for self-isolation," said Dylan to the FMIPA UI Public Relations Team.
The competition scheme is broadly divided into two stages, namely the proposal selection stage and the final presentation stage for the 10 best teams.
"For the proposal itself, it can be said to be quite fast. But, fortunately the three of us can work together well. For the division of tasks, my part is more towards finance and operation, Deva bagian marketing strategy, "Meanwhile, Acha is in charge of design and UI/UX," said Dylan, dividing up his team's tasks.
During the competition period, Dylan and his team members admitted that they often faced challenges, especially in understanding business and economics in depth.
"There are definitely challenges. Especially for those of us who initially still felt that many things were foreign, especially since my major is quite closely related to business. We also No there is a mentor,” said Deva.
"So, basically our team really tried to learn by themselves and rely on sources and examples available on the internet," Naysa continued.
In addition to the challenges, the PUK Team also shared their motivation and impressions during the competition. They believe that they have gained many benefits including gaining new knowledge and practicing problem-solving skills.
"My motivation at that time actually started from a feeling of FOMO seeing that there are currently many startup that developed in Indonesia. From there, I became interested in trying to learn Nggak just making innovations, but I want to focus on solving real problems,” said Dylan.
At the end of the interview session, Dylan, as the team leader, gave advice to his fellow FMIPA friends so that we do not hesitate to take advantage of the opportunities that exist.
“Jadi, aku punya prinsip kalau hidup itu seperti berlari. Garis finish-“So, I have a principle that life is like running. The line finish-nya is an unknown victory. Participating in a competition can be one step, although victory is not always a guarantee. But if we do not want to step, then our guarantee is defeat. Therefore, always take big steps because you No No will never know where the line finish-said Dylan, closing the interview session.
