The University of Indonesia's virtual graduation ceremony for the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year has just concluded.
The ceremony, led directly by UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E, M.A, Ph.D., was held for 2 consecutive days, namely on Friday (25/2) for graduates of the Professional, Specialist, Masters, and Doctoral Programs, and on Saturday (26/2) for graduates of the Bachelor and Vocational Programs.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Ari conveyed that UI is committed to and continues to realize its vision and mission as a leading campus, which is tolerant, inclusive, superior, and comfortable for all its citizens. "As one proof of the realization of this commitment, we opened the beginning of this year with good news from the world ranking agency, Webometrics. Based on Webometrics' assessment, Indonesia is ranked 1 (one) in Indonesia, 9th in Southeast Asia, and 649th in the world. We still have many challenges and opportunities to improve ourselves to increase UI's position to be among the top 5 in Southeast Asia," said Prof. Ari.
In this odd semester, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) graduated 316 students: 237 from the undergraduate program, 70 from the master's program, and 9 from the doctoral program. Of these, 74 earned cum laude honors.
Dean of FMIPA UI, Dede Djuhana, Ph. D. congratulated all graduates for their success in pursuing their education at FMIPA UI.
Even though this semester's graduation ceremony is still in a pandemic situation and must be carried out virtually, he assured the graduates that they are still able to achieve success with the knowledge they have gained during their studies.
"Wishes don't always align with reality. Perhaps that phrase represents the sentiment of all of us who hope that graduation ceremonies can be held in person. However, we need not be discouraged, because I am confident that you are still capable of achieving success, armed with the knowledge we have provided at FMIPA UI," said the Dean of FMIPA UI to the graduates.
"The most important thing is how, going forward, you all can contribute to the nation and state through innovation and diverse work amidst global change. FMIPA UI is always open to its alumni, whether simply for socializing or collaborating," he added.
