Alif Raya Zulkarnaen, an outstanding student from the Geography Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), participated in the selection stages of the University-level Outstanding Student Election (Pilmapres) at Universitas Indonesia. This prestigious event was held from April 21 to 24, 2025, and was attended by 17 top students from all faculties and vocational programs within UI.
Alif was previously selected as the Top Outstanding Student of FMIPA UI 2025 in February, and now advances as the faculty’s representative in the university-level competition. Pilmapres UI 2025 consists of four selection stages: an interview assessing achievements and CV evaluation, a psychological assessment interview, a presentation of innovative program ideas, and an English proficiency test.
The Student Affairs Manager of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, S.Si., M.Si., also expressed her support for Alif. "We are very proud of Alif's achievements and are committed to providing full guidance. Pilmapres is not only about accomplishments but also about how students can make a positive impact on their environment and society," said Prof. Dewi.
The event was officially opened by the Head of the Student Achievement Subdirectorate at UI, Dr. Alfian Syahmadan Siagian, M.Hum., who stated that Pilmapres is one of the competitions that receives significant attention from university leadership. He emphasized the importance of this event as a form of preparation for the national-level selection and encouraged all participants to perform at their best.
"The Outstanding Student Election is not just a competition, but a platform to foster excellent character and a spirit of real contribution to the nation," said Alfian.
In preparation for this selection, Alif received intensive guidance from various parties within FMIPA UI. The preparation of his achievements and CV was done together with the manager and staff of the FMIPA UI Student Affairs Unit. For the Creative Idea presentation, Alif was directly mentored by Adnan Hasyim Wibowo, UI’s Top Outstanding Student 2024 from the Geophysics Study Program. Alif also participated in English training guided by FMIPA UI lecturers.
The FMIPA UI Student Affairs Unit actively provides full support, both academic and non-academic, to ensure Alif’s readiness and confidence in facing each stage of the selection. This event was also attended by student affairs managers from various faculties at UI as a form of moral support for the participants.
The achievements and spirit of Alif Raya Zulkarnaen are hoped to inspire other students to continue creating and contributing in both academic and social spheres.
