Holding an International Symposium, FMIPA UI Gathers Leading Researchers to Discuss Progress in Science Research

Wednesday, (6/10/2021) FMIPA Universitas Indonesia through the Research and Community Service (RPM) unit held the 7th International Symposium on Current Progress in Mathematics and Sciences 2021 virtually by presenting leading researchers from various countries.

The event, which will last until October 7, 2021, was officially opened by Prof. Dr. techn. Djoko Triyono as the Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs of FMIPA UI.

In his speech, Prof. Djoko said that this annual scientific meeting was held based on the commitment of FMIPA UI as a leading Faculty of Science in Indonesia in facilitating scientific communication facilities for academics, students, lecturers, and researchers both between universities and research institutions in Indonesia and other countries, so that they have the opportunity to present research results, share research experiences, and exchange ideas.

Furthermore, he hopes that through ISCPMS, which has been implemented for the seventh time, it will further encourage the quality and quantity of research in Indonesia, especially at FMIPA UI.

The presentation and discussion of research results at an international symposium like this is important for FMIPA UI so that it can always improve the quality of research. The advancement of science nationally and internationally is greatly assisted by the existence of a forum for exchanging ideas like this. And hopefully by holding this symposium it can encourage the quality and quantity of scientific publications in Indonesia," he said.

Prof. Dr. Ivandini T. Anggraningrum, M.Si., RPM manager and chief executive, said that the seventh ISCPMS discussed issues in the fields of Mathematics and its applications, Theoretical Physics and its applications, Chemistry and its applications, Biology and its applications, Geoscience and its applications, Life and Environmental Sciences, Geography, Earth Sciences, and Geosciences.

"All submitted papers, after the review process, will be published in AIP Proceedings, in addition, several qualified articles will be published in reputable international journals Q2 and Q3. This symposium is also very useful for the exchange of knowledge, and the latest information updates on findings in the field of science among researchers," said Prof. Ivandini.

This International Symposium presents leading scientists from South Korea, Australia, Singapore, and the USA as keynote speakers. Their presence shows various scientific developments that are important for researchers in developing expertise in the field of science and also to support the development of new technologies.

The speakers are Parada Hutauruk, Ph.D (Pukyong National University, Korea), Associate Professor Dr. Jeffrey Neilson (The University of Sydney, Australia), Associate Professor Patricio Grassini, Ph.D. (University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), USA), and Associate Professor Andrivo Rusydi, Ph.D. (National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore).

The 7 activity formatth ISCPMS FMIPA UI consists of plenary sessions with speakers, parallel sessions in breakout rooms and presentations by participants. Although the series of activities are carried out virtually, it does not reduce the substance of the activity.
