In order to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1444 H, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held a Ramadan tarhib in the Sinarmas Hall, Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building, FMIPA UI - PT Pertamina (Persero), UI Campus, Depok
Carrying the theme“Innovative, Smart and Competitive”, The 62nd Anniversary of FMIPA UI is expected to be able to increase enthusiasm, integrity, and strengthen the shared commitment of the academic community and residents of FMIPA UI, to synergize with each other in harmony in order to achieve the vision of FMIPA UI as a leading science faculty through breakthroughs, hard and smart work, and a competitive attitude.
Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. in his speech expressed his gratitude for the achievements of FMIPA UI in the fields of research, academics, and non-academics. The Dean assessed that all of these achievements were the result of hard work together between the academic community and the FMIPA UI community.
"Throughout 2022, we are grateful for the various achievements made by the FMIPA UI academic community, both presented by lecturers and students," said Dean Dede in his remarks.
These achievements include, FMIPA UI successfully entered the international rankings of The Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QS WUR) by Subject in 2022 for the field of Science. Geography ranked 151-200 in the Natural Science group, the field of Science Physics and Astronomy which is ranked 501-550 in the Natural Science group. And this year, the field of Biological Sciences in the field of knowledge Life Sciences and Medicine adds to the list of scientific fields at FMIPA UI that are included in the international ranking.
"With the addition of fields of science in FMIPA UI that are recorded in the international ranking, we are optimistic that in the future other fields of science in FMIPA UI will be able to add to the long list of achievements," he said.
He also emphasized that FMIPA UI is committed to encouraging an increase in academic reputation both at the national and international levels, one of which is through collaboration with partners at home and abroad in producing creative innovations.
Other achievements include the re-obtaining of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) ISO 9001: 2015 Certificate by DQS, the acquisition of the Akkreditierungsagentur fur Studiengange der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik (ASIIN) certification for the S1 Mathematics, S1 Physics, S1 Biology, and S1 Geography study programs, the acquisition of the ISO 17025 certificate by CMPB UI as a testing laboratory from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN). FMIPA UI also made a rapid increase in the UI Green Metric ranking, from the previous 15th rank, this year FMIPA UI shot up to 2nd rank.
From the student affairs sector, this year, FMIPA UI students as a whole managed to win 220 awards consisting of 59 international awards and 161 national awards.
From the research and community service sector, FMIPA UI was able to produce reputable journals Q1 and Q2 exceeding the target given by UI, which reached 168%. This percentage is much higher than the target.
Achievements and awards were also achieved by FMIPA UI lecturers, namely, among the 12 lecturers at UI who were included in the top 2% of world scientists in 2023 by Stanford University, 5 of them were FMIPA UI lecturers. Then, 2 of the 4 UKICIS grant awardees at UI came from FMIPA, as well as one of the lecturers in the Physics Department, Prof. Anto Sulaksono received the Science & Technology award from the Indonesia Toray Science Foundation (ITSF).
Meanwhile, in the field of community service, the Dean said that the number of community service proposals that were successfully funded by both DIKTI, UI, and FMIPA UI had increased.
"Furthermore, the Parangtopo Laboratory complex is also increasingly playing a role as a means for various FMIPA UI community service activities," said the Dean.
Finally, at the end of 2022, FMIPA UI succeeded in producing 3 new professors at once, each consisting of the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
The Dean hopes that all of these achievements can be a motivation for the entire academic community, and the FMIPA UI community to jointly improve performance, creativity, and innovation.
To ensure the sustainability of FMIPA UI, the Dean emphasized that FMIPA UI strives to focus on improving the quality of education and research through programs and fields such as Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka, domestic and foreign research collaboration, synergy & revitalization of resources, downstreaming & entrepreneur university, quality assurance & international programs.
UI Chancellor, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D. in his remarks congratulated FMIPA UI on its increasing age and increasing achievements.
"We should also be grateful that at the age of 62, FMIPA UI continues to grow and develop, filling today and is committed to continuing to educate the nation's children to build the future of Indonesia with work, creativity and innovation as well as the spirit of progress and togetherness," said Prof. Ari.
Furthermore, the UI Chancellor said, in the new paradigm of higher education development in the digitalization era and post Covid-19 pandemic, FMIPA UI has emphasized the strategy to increase competitiveness in line with UI's vision, mission and Strategic Plan, namely making UI innovative, independent, inclusive, dignified, and superior in Southeast Asia and the world.
According to him, the commitment and hard work and smart work of FMIPA UI are shown in efforts to achieve increased academic reputation nationally and internationally. Among others, the construction of infrastructure in the form of Multidisciplinary Buildings/laboratories, smart class room, comfortable and safe lecture rooms, as well as research and innovation laboratories.
On that occasion, the Chancellor also gave direction to the entire academic community of FMIPA UI to always maintain a good academic climate, research, and community service as an effort to optimize a quality learning process and encourage new developments in science.
The event was then closed with a tumpeng cutting procession by the Dean of FMIPA UI. During this procession, the Dean expressed his hope that in the future FMIPA UI would be even more successful and continue to be the nation's leading science faculty.
