Vision

The Department of Geography, FMIPA UI has a vision to become a center of excellence and national reference in the field of Geographical Sciences that is able to contribute at the global level in supporting sustainable development.

Mission

The mission of the Master of Geographical Sciences Program is:

  1. Organizing higher education in geography at the master's level based on competency and research to produce graduates with high intellectualism, noble character and able to compete nationally, regionally and internationally.
  2. Conducting research and development of geographical science at the master's level to produce innovations and solutions in supporting sustainable development.
  3. Organizing community service or application activities of geography at the master's level to contribute and play an active role in increasing community capacity.

Educational goals

Educational and research activities in the Master's Program in Geography at FMIPA UI are aimed at producing graduates with the following abilities:

  1. Able to demonstrate reliable, broad-minded, honest, highly motivated and confident personal integrity in conveying, fighting for and implementing ideas/concepts
  2. Able to think logically, systematically and consistently as the main characteristic of a graduate;
  3. Able to understand and master the application of a holistic approach in understanding the dynamics of nature and society and the interaction between the two as the main characteristic of the Geographical Science approach;
  4. Able to utilize and develop concepts, analysis methods, and technical skills in the field of Geographical Science in accordance with current developments, both for the development of Geographical Science itself and for the benefit of the wider community.

Graduate Profile

As an educational institution, the implementation of the vision and mission is aimed at producing geography graduates who are able to compete in the job market. The development of the education curriculum is also more directed at preparing students to be able to face the ever-changing world. Based on this approach, the Master of Geography Study Program, FMIPA UI has the goal that every graduate produced has a profile as:
