Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at the University of Indonesia Depok Campus Convention Hall and led by the UI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met.<\/strong>, 2 Professors of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences were inaugurated. They are Prof. Drs. Ridla Bakri, M.Phil., Ph.D.<\/strong>  as a Permanent Professor in the field of Chemistry and Prof. Dr. Phil. Nat. Drs. Anto Sulaksono, M.Si.<\/strong> as Permanent Professors in Nuclear Physics. These two professors from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, have dedicated themselves to the development of science in their respective fields, thus benefiting Indonesian education, particularly in basic science research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Bakri menyampaikan pidato berjudul<\/strong> \u201cSelf-Assembly: A Simple Way to Make Nano-Materials\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. In recent years, nanoscience and nanotechnology have developed very rapidly and attracted a lot of attention from researchers and industries around the world. Nanomaterials are very interesting because their products have properties that are very different from similar materials in large sizes. Nanoparticles have extraordinary properties because they are useful in various fields such as energy, health, environment, agriculture and others. Nanoparticle technology is able to transform materials that are difficult to dissolve, difficult to absorb and biologically active substances that are labile into materials that are very useful for life. Therefore, producing nanomaterials in large quantities, the process self-assembly<\/em><\/strong> is very necessary because this method is very effective and efficient for the manufacture of nano devices and their systems. According to Prof. Bakri, the process self-assembly<\/em><\/strong> occurs without human intervention, so the challenge is how researchers can maintain and regulate the formation of supramolecules in a directed manner, such as the desired structure. Thus, nanotechnology can be used to produce something useful, such as cleaning environmental pollution, efficient and safe drug delivery mechanisms without side effects, the development of information technology, self-cleaning windows (can clean themselves), smart fabrics that can adjust the temperature comfortably for the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next,\u00a0Prof. Anto delivered an inaugural speech entitled \"The Path to Understanding the Origins of Heavy Elements\"<\/strong>. For more than 15 years he has been involved in the field of nuclear physics and astrophysics, currently pursuing three research topics, namely neutron stars (compact objects), neutrino transport in proto-neutron stars and nuclear structure in neutron-rich nuclei. Prof. Anto said \"There is still a lot of homework to be done within the framework of our research Roadmap and of course it is not easy to realize. It requires support in the form of appropriate research policies, then access to funding sources, information and research facilities, as well as the availability of extraordinary students to help develop research in this field that I love.\"<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
