Three Geophysics students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) from the 2020 intake, namely Adhenisa Ratna Agustin, Yudha Adi Putra, and Axcell Weken, succeeded in achieving finalist titles at the 2021 International Student Conference on Asia-Africa Studies held by IESC, Padjadjaran University in November 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The paper competition is an international competition (Asia-Africa) with ten different sub-themes. One winner will be selected from each team pair with the best discussion category best speaker<\/em>, best paper<\/em>and overall champion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Adhenisa, as the team leader, said that the scheme that his team went through included collecting abstracts, presenting the final round which was preceded by a discussion session between teams, and ending with the announcement of the winner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \"In the initial stage, each team was asked to submit an abstract based on their chosen sub-theme. We chose the sub-theme regarding crime rates during the pandemic. After that, participants who passed the abstract selection stage advanced to the final stage. Before the presentation stage, there was a discussion round between groups, with the results also presented. The topic given during the group discussions was corruption,\" explained Adhenisa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The team, Blossom and Bubble Wrap, presented an innovation focused on personal data security. Adhenisa and his team proposed using fingerprint data to unlock personal data. The idea stemmed from the still-poor personal data security system in Indonesia, as evidenced by the recent surge in personal data breaches. Compared to other teams' innovations, the Blossom and Bubble Wrap team created a more focused security flow for accessing personal data, successfully winning the judges' attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, the Blossom and Bubble Wrap Team also said that they often faced challenges during the competition, such as dividing their time with their busy academic activities and needing more in-depth research on technology fingerprint.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Not only that, besides the challenges, the three of them stated that the reason that motivated them was to expand their knowledge beyond their current studies. Furthermore, various other skills they gained were also very diverse, such as honing their writing, reading, summarizing, getting used to reading journals and papers, discussion, and teamwork. The team also hopes that the achievements they can achieve can help them bring good name to FMIPA UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the end of the interview, Adhenisa and the team advised other FMIPA students to be bold in seizing opportunities and not be afraid of failure. They believe that having a strong mentality will reap various benefits, such as discovering new things and making new friends who share their goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 2021 International Student Conference on Asia-Africa Studies (ISCAAS) aims to provide a platform for undergraduate students from around the world concerned with Asia-Africa issues to contribute innovations for presentation at the conference.
