The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held the peak of the series of Faculty Academic System Introduction (PSAF) 2024 activities, in order to welcome new undergraduate students for the 2024/2025 academic year. The event was held on Thursday to Friday, August 15-16, 2024, in the Prof. Dr. Ir. Soemantri Brodjonegoro hall and the area outside the hall, FMIPA UI campus, Depok.
This year, FMIPA UI accepted 1,020 new students from nine undergraduate study programs, from various entry routes, namely SNBP, SNBT-UTB, SIMAK UI, PPKB UI, and Achievement Route.
The series of PSAF activities began on Thursday (1/8/2024) August with the agenda of introducing the Introduction and Selection of Prospective Class Coordinators, the division of PSAF 2024 tasks that must be done by new students, including writing essays on national culture, exchanging insights with outstanding students, making community service plans, and making eco-friendly movement infographics.
The lively and joyful atmosphere was evident since the event began. The joy was not only reflected in the facial expressions of the new students, but also in the enthusiasm of the leaders present and the committee, who had made this event an unforgettable, valuable moment.

"Congratulations to the new undergraduate students of FMIPA UI for the 2024/2025 academic year, for your extraordinary achievements in becoming an important part of FMIPA UI. Of course, we are proud and happy to welcome you into the big family of FMIPA UI," said Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. starting his speech.
"Today, this place, is a witness to the initial steps of your struggle at FMIPA UI, prospective outstanding scientists," said the Dean, which was then greeted with enthusiastic applause and cheers from the new students.
FMIPA UI, continued Prof. Dede, is a crater in front of the future for outstanding scientists. A place where knowledge and innovation meet with dedication and passion. New students will find ample opportunities to explore various fields of science, cultivate research skills, and collaborate on projects that will prepare them to actualize themselves in the professional world.
To the new students, he also emphasized that the leadership of FMIPA UI is committed to providing academic support needed by students. Starting from adequate educational facilities and resources, academic guidance, to support in participating in student mobility activities both at home and abroad.
Finally, the Dean reminded his new students to always be ready to face challenges and opportunities that will test their abilities and creativity.
"We encourage you to be individuals who are open to new learning, dare to take initiatives, and most importantly, establish good relationships with lecturers and educational staff and fellow students," he added.

The welcoming speech was also delivered by the Secretary of the FMIPA UI Professors Council, Prof. Dr. Jarnuzi Gunlazuardi, he said that the journey of becoming a new student at FMIPA UI is not only about academic achievement but also about building character, contributing to the campus, society, and nation. So he encouraged new FMIPA UI students to continue to develop their interests and talents outside of lectures.
“Take advantage of every opportunity to get involved in extracurricular activities in the arts, sports, or organizations that can enrich your campus experience,” he said.

On the first day of the peak of the PSAF activities, new students participated in a series of activities, namely the introduction of the organizational structure and units in the FMIPA UI Administration Center environment presented by the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan, information about academic fields by Education Manager Rika Tri Yunarti, S.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D., information about student affairs, information about facilities by General Manager and Facilities Mohammad Hidayat, S.Sos.,
Next, information about the academic quality assurance unit by the Academic Quality Assurance Unit Manager Dr. Denny R. Silaban, M.Kom., information about research and community service by the Research and Community Service Manager Dr. Dipo Aldila, S.Si., M.Si., and information about the venture unit and alumni relations by the Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni Relations Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, M.Si.

In addition, to provide motivation and inspiration to new students, FMIPA UI includes a talk show session by inviting speakers from academics, professionals, entrepreneurs and content creators, as well as outstanding students.
The first session of the talk show, entitled "Creativity and Activism of the Young Generation Towards Golden Indonesia 2045" with speakers Jovial da Lopez who is an alumnus of the Physics study program, FMIPA UI class of 2009 and is now pursuing a career as an entrepreneur and digital content creator, and Schalke Anindya Putri, the 2023 National Main Achievement Student.

Meanwhile, the second session of the talk show was titled “Exploring the world of STEM for young scientists” with speakers from academic circles, Dr. Munawar Khalil, who is a lecturer in the chemistry department of FMIPA UI and also the Director of the UI Research and Development Directorate, and Rhadeya Setiawan, M.Sc. Chief Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Officer L’Oreal.
