The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI through the Department of Chemistry and the Chemistry Department Student Association (HMD) in collaboration with the FMIPA UI Alumni again distributed free hand sanitizer, as part of a community service program.
The distribution of hand sanitizers, which was carried out from March 30 to April 10, 2020 in Depok City and its surroundings, was the second agenda after the first stage of distribution which was carried out on March 20, 2020.
However, the distribution reach in this second phase is broader. In addition to being distributed to units within the UI environment and the general public, distribution is also focused on helping improve services and prevent the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak in several health care facilities such as hospitals, community health centers, and health clinics in Depok City and its surroundings.
Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan, Head of the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, explained that at least six healthcare facilities, including clinics, community health centers, and hospitals, have received 54 liters of hand sanitizer produced by the department.
These include the Bambu Apus II Community Health Center in Cipayung, East Jakarta, and the Pancoran Mas Community Health Center in Depok. They also include the University of Indonesia Hospital, the Jakarta Islamic Hospital, the Bunda Hospital in Jakarta, and the Ummi Hospital in Bogor.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,500 100 ml bottles of hand sanitizer have been donated to the general public. Distribution to the public, including vendors and online motorcycle taxi drivers, was carried out both in person and through public facilities.
He also said that at least 60 liters of hand sanitizer would soon be donated to other healthcare facilities.
"We are expanding the production and distribution agenda for hand sanitizer so that its benefits can be felt more widely, both by individuals and the general public, including health facilities and even the Mobile Brigade Corps (Makobrimob), according to the distribution target," said Budiawan.
