The award adds to the long list of awards he has received during his 32 years in nuclear physics.
During that time, Prof. Terry has also received many prestigious science awards, including the Habibie Award (2001), Outstanding Lecturer III UI (2004), Leading Scientist from COMSTECH/Organization of Islamic Conference (2008), Ganesa Widya Jasa Adiutama from ITB (2009).

Two of his works were even selected for inclusion in “The 400 most highly cited papers of all time in the nuclear archive,” published by SLAC-SPIRES. Terry admitted that he couldn't move on from the topic he has been involved in for more than half his life.
The Head of LIPI, Laksana Tri Handoko, assessed that Prof. Terry's publication productivity was a reflection of Prof. Terry's dedication and contribution to his thinking as a world-class thinker and scientist.
For Handoko, Prof. Terry was a very consistent and persistent figure. His research findings in particle and nuclear physics have been expressed through his works.
Until now, Handoko continued, no less than 133 publications, both scientific journals and popular publications, have been produced by Prof. Terry.
"He has also been a speaker at 62 scientific conferences, both internationally and nationally," Handoko explained.
The XVIII Sarwono Award is an activity that has been running since 2001 (for the Sarwono Prawirohardjo Memorial Lecture) and 2002 (for the LIPI Sarwono Award). This is a form of LIPI's appreciation for the scientific achievements and dedication of the nation's children in the development of science in Indonesia.
Kegiatan ini merupakan upaya pendidikan publik akan pentingnya peran ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi dalam penyiapan sumber daya manusia untuk mendukung visi Indonesia Maju dari Presiden Joko Widodo.
