Depok, Friday (February 9) — FMIPA UI participated in enlivening the grand finale of the 68th anniversary (dies natalis) of UI by taking part in a carnival held along the Rotunda UI roundabout route.
The FMIPA UI contingent, consisting of faculty leaders, staff, and students, competed to present their best performance in the cultural arts parade, in line with this year’s dies natalis theme, “UI for Indonesia,” by showcasing Betawi culture.

In front of the leadership of the University of Indonesia, the FMIPA UI contingent presented roti buaya (a traditional Betawi ceremonial bread) to the Rector of UI and the Dean of FMIPA UI. In addition, a collaboration of music, ondel-ondel dance, and traditional pantun (poetry) enlivened the carnival atmosphere. The festivity was further highlighted by the colorful costumes, which are a distinctive feature of Betawi tradition.

Although the FMIPA UI contingent was not selected as the carnival winner in this year’s 68th UI anniversary celebrations, the leadership of FMIPA UI still appreciated the effort and hard work of their team.
“I truly appreciate it. Whether staff or students, I feel they have given their utmost effort to present their best. What’s most important is that they remained united,” said Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., Vice Dean for Finance and Resources (Vice Dean II) of FMIPA UI.
