Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) Receives Visit from Incheon National University to Discuss Potential Collaboration

Tuesday (16/1/2024). Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. welcomed the arrival of a delegation from the College of Natural Sciences Incheon National University (INU), South Korea, at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UI Administration Center Building, Depok Campus. The delegates were Prof. Dr. Junho Kim as Dean, Prof. Dr. Jinho Kim (Vice Dean and Professor of the Department of Chemistry), Prof. Dr. Byungsoo Moon (Professor of the Department of Mathematics), Prof. Dr. Hyungjun Kim (Professor of the Department of Chemistry), and Prof. Dr. Yunkyung Cho (Professor of the Department of Fashion Industry).

The agenda of this meeting is to discuss various opportunities for collaboration between FMIPA UI and the College of Natural Sciences INU in the fields of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, more specifically in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Prof. Dede said, "Both the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UI and the College of Natural Sciences at INU share a common research focus in several subfields, including Materials Physics, Organic Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, and Mathematics. Therefore, we hope this collaboration can be realized."

Currently, the Dean continued, FMIPA UI as a leading science faculty in Indonesia continues to expand its network with universities abroad, for development in the fields of education, research, and community service.

The visit began with the MIPA Talk Series 1 event with the theme “Pursuing your Master and Ph.D. in Science and Technology at Incheon National University, Korea”, where delegates from INU's College of Natural Sciences were keynote speakers.

In the first series of MIPA Talk, the speakers from the INU College of Natural Sciences explained the scope of research and scientific contributions from their respective laboratories to the participants who were FMIPA UI students from various levels of study programs.

Following the MIPA Talk session, the leadership of FMIPA UI and the INU College of Natural Sciences delegation held a meeting to discuss in more detail the details of potential collaboration, including the postgraduate scholarship scheme, as well as other administrative requirements for joint research programs and student exchanges.

"We hope this collaboration will be realized to motivate our researchers and students to contribute internationally," said the Dean.
