Since 2015, the PAF FMIPA UI has been committed to obtaining ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification. This commitment of FMIPA UI is aligned with the UI Strategic Plan (Renstra) 2014–2019, which targets units within the University of Indonesia to implement the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. This target was further translated into the FMIPA UI Strategic Plan 2015–2016 under the Key Performance Indicators, namely the realization of an ISO-based quality culture within FMIPA UI.
As an effort to achieve this performance indicator, Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, as the Dean of FMIPA UI, established a team to obtain ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification in 2016. He hoped that the achievement of ISO 9001:2015 certification by the Faculty Administration Center of FMIPA UI would continuously and sustainably improve the existing quality management system at FMIPA UI.
In order to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification, the process required significant effort, commitment, and hard work from every team and unit involved. The series of ISO 9001:2015 activities began in April 2016 with activities such as Awareness ISO 9001:2015—this activity marked the beginning of the entire series of activities aimed at introducing and aligning the understanding of all teams regarding ISO 9001:2015. This was followed by the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each unit within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UI) Administrative Center. These activities took place from April to July 2016. The SOPs were approved and implemented from July to September 2016. After their approval, an Internal Quality Audit Training was conducted on 8 September 2016. This training was carried out to assess whether all established SOPs had been properly implemented in daily operations, so that any nonconformities could be corrected prior to the External Certification Body Audit. Subsequently, a Management Review Meeting was held on 22 September 2016 to ensure the readiness of all teams in preparation for the external audit. The final stage of the entire series of activities was the audit conducted by the External Certification Body on 18 and 25 November 2016.
The handover of the ISO 9001:2015 certificate was carried out in conjunction with the 56th Anniversary (Dies Natalis) of FMIPA UI, on Tuesday, 20 December 2016, at Building B of FMIPA UI. The certificate was presented by Mr. Markus Dihanto, Auditor from PT DQS Certification Indonesia, to the Dean of FMIPA UI, Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris.
