
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) held a Pre-Graduation Ceremony for the Even Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year on Thursday morning (14/9) at the Prof. Dr. Ir. Soemantri Brodjonegoro Hall, FMIPA UI, Depok.
This semester, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) graduated 689 students, comprising 601 undergraduate graduates, 72 master's graduates, and 16 doctoral graduates. Each of them had the opportunity to take the stage to receive congratulations and have their photo taken with the Dean.
Of this number, 7 of them received Summa Cum Laude degrees, and as many as 268 graduates received Cum Laude degrees.
This Pre-Graduation Ceremony is part of a series of activities that precede the UI Graduation Ceremony which will be held at the Balairung, UI campus, Depok, on September 21-23, 2023. This Pre-Graduation Ceremony also serves as a replacement for the dress rehearsal agenda which in previous years UI Graduation Ceremony activities were held at the Balairung.
Dean of FMIPA UI, Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. in his remarks congratulated all graduates on their success in pursuing their education at FMIPA UI.
"I hope today will be a milestone in history, marking the graduation of 689 FMIPA UI graduates, who will achieve brilliant achievements in the future. Your achievements are a testament to your intelligence, perseverance, and dedication, and a reflection of our ability to overcome the challenges of life in the digital age. In this digital era, we have learned together to process and actualize ourselves to become better, more resilient individuals," said the Dean.
He also encouraged the graduates to continue the process and develop their potential to be able to answer various challenges in the future.
"With the enthusiasm and knowledge you have gained, let us together explore new challenges and continue to innovate for a future full of hope," he said.
Finally, he reminded the graduates to always maintain ethics in every activity and to uphold the good name of their alma mater.
On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Council of Professors (DGB) of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Sumi Hudiyono PWS, said, "We should be proud of our alma mater. UI always holds the first rank in Indonesia. This is of course because UI, and especially FMIPA, is supported by adequate resources and facilities to be able to compete in Indonesia and at the world level. Currently, almost all study programs at FMIPA have received international accreditation and are accredited as superior. This proves that the educational process at FMIPA UI has been going very well."
The Chairman of the Alumni Association (ILUNI) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI), Mr. Satya Heragandhi, S.Si., M.M., M.B.A., said, "The spirit of learning must continue to be fueled wherever you are. Learn to face new jobs, learn to do various things for this country, and learn for the greater good of world development. Search passion You, find what you love, and pursue it in the field you master, when you find passion You guys, you will find controlled energy and motivation.”
The physics department alumnus also emphasized the importance of remaining humble to the graduates. He believes that a humble person will always be open to new knowledge and experiences, making it easier to develop their potential.
"There are always people with more knowledge, there are always people who are smarter and have more valuable experience than us. Learn from others and remain humble wherever you are," he added.
In addition to taking photos with the Dean individually, at this event the graduates also had the opportunity to take group photos with the board of professors, fellow study program colleagues, heads of study programs, and heads of their respective departments.

The event was further enlivened by the Bajidor Kahot dance performance by Density, a dance community of FMIPA UI students, and song offerings from Ahmad Irfan Sutanto (Physics 2023) and Sharon Blessline Natalie (Actuarial Science 2023).
