Thursday (12/1/2023), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) together with the Chemical Industry Research Institute (CIRI), and the Total-Period Analysis Center For Ulsan Chemical Industry (Tacu), University of Ulsan, signed an MoU Agreement of Implementation (AoI) in the meeting room of the multidisciplinary research laboratory building of FMIPA UI – PT Pertamina (Persero), UI Campus, Depok.
The signing of the agreement was carried out by the Dean of FMIPA UI Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. and the Head of the Chemical Industry Research Institute, and Total-Period Analysis Center for Ulsan Chemical Industry Prof. Youngil Lee..
Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., stated that his institution recognizes the importance of expanding and strengthening international partnerships in an effort to encourage improvements in the quality of education and research.
"We recognize the need to build collaborations with other universities abroad to take the necessary steps to encourage and develop academic and research activities," said the Dean.
The Dean hopes this collaboration will benefit the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, particularly in enhancing and strengthening UI's international competitiveness toward becoming a World-Class University. Therefore, he urged the staff, faculty, and students to participate and benefit from the international educational and research experiences provided by this collaboration.
"Through this collaboration, we encourage students and lecturers, particularly in the chemistry field, to gain international experience. This will enhance the FMIPA UI's marketability and enable them to become researchers of international standards, thereby advancing the faculty," he added.
The joint education and research programs agreed upon within the scope of cooperation between the two parties include the exchange of researchers, including lecturers and students, and collaborative exchange of scientific information for the common good.
From the FMIPA UI, this event was also attended by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan (Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs), Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, M.Si. (Cooperation, Venture, and Alumni Manager), Rika Tri Yunarti, M.Eng., Ph.D. (Education Manager), Dr. Asep Saefumillah (Head of the Chemistry Department), Dr. Djati Handoko (Head of the Physics Department), the Heads of Study Programs in the Chemistry Department, and Prof. Ivandini Tribidasari A., professor of Chemistry and initiator of the collaboration.
Meanwhile, from the University of Ulsan, Prof. Sang Kook Woo, Prof. Hyung-il Lee, Prof. Seung Goo Lee, and Prof. Beom Jin Kim were also present.
