Students as part of society are not only required to gain knowledge in the classroom, but students must also serve and care for the surrounding community.

This was stated by Regina Ainunnisa, as Deputy Head of Internal Affairs of the Social and Environmental Department of BEM FMIPA UI.

With that as the background, Regina and several student members of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) held a social activity entitled "Trusted Donation" (DONAT) in Kampung Kerang Hijau, RT 06/RW 22, North Jakarta on Sunday (September 22nd).

As the name suggests, Trusted Donations is a distribution initiative for reusable goods. These items have been collected since May by the Social and Environmental Department of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI), with nearly all FMIPA UI students volunteering as distributors.

"The items donated were mostly clothing items, such as clothes, hats, and bags," said Regina.

He further explained that before the activity began, residents deemed in need were given coupons to exchange for goods. A total of 40 coupons were distributed to each resident. Each resident was allowed to take a maximum of three items.

Regina hopes that this activity can increase sympathy and awareness among FMIPA UI students about the importance of sharing with the less fortunate.

"There are still many areas around us that need more attention and assistance. Hopefully, other students can take similar action to serve the community," Regina concluded.
